Welcome to the website of Lasting Light (Melanie M)

Fortunate enough to live and work on the border of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales (the UK for those in other parts of the world), the photographer is ideally located to pursue her love of the light and the land.

Increasingly it is trips away from home and contact with other like-minded people that bring new inspiration and enthusiasm

Lasting Light was born of the desire to capture those transient images of nature and light that would otherwise fade in the memory

Melanie is a self-taught photographer, learning mainly by trial and error (mostly error) and by viewing the work of others

There is something wonderful about seeing an image on screen or in print but, for this photographer, there is nothing that matches the excitement of being out there capturing the magic of a changing scene on camera Her favourite time of day remains the early morning before the rest of the world is awake and when the light has its own special magic

Her favourite season remains winter, and her favourite weather is the kind that which will produce rainbows!

From the beginning of her love for digital photogrpahy Melanie has used, almost exclusively: Canon cameras and lenses, LowePro photobags and Velbon carbon fibre tripods with Manfrotto heads

Photo Travel Review Magazine is a collaboration between Melanie and two other photographers: Claire and Bill, It is aimed at those photographers who also find inspiration in travelling to pursue their art.
